Commissioning of our new Pin Mill for cryogenic milling
Since April, we have a new cryogenic plant technology of the highest quality available. The plant parts, such as the Pin Mill, the cooling screw conveyor, the entire system periphery including filters are made of stainless steel. They offer us the most modern ways of grinding and micronization of different products, primarily in the areas of
- Food
- Chemistry
- Plastics
This Pin Mill is very well suited for viscoplastic materials, which can be crushed through cryogenic milling with liquid nitrogen from now on. Furthermore, grindings can be operated with inert gas (nitrogen) in gas loop operation. The advantage is that you can edit products which act hygroscopically. Liquid nitrogen is injected into the cooling screw conveyor, i.e. the product is transported by the liquid nitrogen, which cools the product to its product-specific processing temperature.
The Pin Mill operates on the principle of impact crushing. Two pin discs rotate either in opposite directions or with each other with high peripheral speed. The product being ground impacts on the pins and is thereby broken into small particles.
Depending on the product the achievable particle size is up to 20 µm (micron).

Successful Bio Certification
Recently ACU has been audited successfully and received the Bio Certificate according to Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 889/2008.

Conversion of the plant control system...
...from SP 5 to SP 7 concerning the plants 100 AFG, 200 AFG, 400 AFG and 315 ZPS.
Additionally new rotary valves were installed in above mentioned plants according to hygienic design directives.

Conversion to pharmaceutical and oil-free compressed air in the whole production site
In 2010, ACU has renewed the entire compressed-air processing system for the whole production site. The pipeline system for compressed air is made of stainless steel.
This way pharmaceutical and oil-free compressed-air is available in the whole production site.
